Dr. Alfred Choy is an experienced consultant gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgeon from the UK with expertise in general & weight loss surgery. He has over 25 years of experience.
He undertook undergraduate medical training at Trinity College & Addenbrookes Hospital, University of Cambridge and qualified in 1987. He received postgraduate surgical training in Cambridge, London and Liverpool and Bariatric Surgery training in Belgium, Derby and London. He was appointed a consultant surgeon at Peterborough and Stamford NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridgeshire, UK in 1998 and became the Clinical Director for Surgery in 2014.
He performs a wide range of procedures including endoscopy & keyhole surgery for acid reflux, gallstones, hernia, gastric balloon, gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass.
Dr. Choy was born in Hong Kong and is married with four children. His eldest daughter is a History graduate at Cambridge, his son at University of Brighton, the youngest two sons at Oundle School. His hobbies include fly-fishing for trout and salmon, and is looking forward to catching bonefish, tarpon, tuna & marlin in the Caymans. He also likes travelling, golf, and classical music.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Association of Upper GI Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland. Dr. Choy is also a member of the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgical Society (BOMMS) & the International Federation for Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders.
